Harvesting Marquette for Vin Doux Natural

This past Sunday, November 3rd, we picked our Marquette grapes. It was another great volunteer turnout and a beautiful day for picking.

Marquette is a cousin of Frontenac and grandson of Pinot noir first developed in 1989 by the University of Minnesota. Marquette is a new era cold-hardy hybrid, representing traditional vinifera in ways that prior hybrids did not. Marquette exhibits cherry and black currant flavors with aromas typical of hybrids however it also integrates notes of blackberries, pepper, plum, tobacco, leather, and spice. Marquette is what gives our Bulles Rose and Vin Doux Naturel wines their distinct garnet tone.

We so appreciate the enthusiasm and community of our harvest volunteers! Click here to join our harvest volunteer email list and stay in the know of upcoming harvest opportunities!
